Determining Basic Settings
In the basic settings of the planning layout you specify the name, determine the layout type, and make settings for the characteristics. Additional settings also exist.
In order to create a planning layout you must first create the function type Manual Planning for the planning level in the planning functionsarea.
...
1. In the planning environment, in the Planning Functions area, choose Create Layout in the context menu of the function Manual Planning
A dialog box appears in which you can enter the technical name and a description for the layout.
2. In the group field Layout Type, determine the layout area in which key figures should be presented. You have the following possibilities:
· Key figures in data columns: You can determine key figures for the data columns. Every key figure of the layout is presented in its own column. You can use additional characteristics in the data columns so that you only obtain key figure values for certain characteristics. The rows contain all values of the characteristics included in the lead column, for which data is available. The lead column(s) is, or are, filled by the system according to the detail settings (see Determining Detail Settings).
· Key figures in data columns, rows defined individually: You can determine characteristic and key figure combinations for the data columns. You are able to define the rows of the lead column individually by determining combinations of characteristic values and the texts to be used in the detail settings (see Determining Detail Settings).
· Key figures in data columns: You can only determine characteristic values for the data columns. You can determine a combination of characteristic and key figure values, as well as a text, for every row in the lead column.

If you change this layout type later, the entire
layout is reset to the standard settings.
If you had already selected characteristics for the lead column but later want
to show key figures in the lead column, the characteristics are automatically
transferred into the header area of the layout.
3. Determine the position of the characteristics in the list Settings for Characteristics:
For each characteristic included in the planning level, you can determine if it is to be assigned to the header area, in the lead column or data column.

Under certain circumstances, the system restricts the assignment of a characteristic: A characteristic can only appear in the data column if it has been restricted in the planning level. A characteristic that is only restricted in a planning package however, cannot appear in a data column.
You can determine which length variant is displayed for the texts of characteristic values in the layout in the Characteristic Text column.

For characteristic values that are immediately significant in every length variant (for example, fiscal year), you can use the short text in order to save space. In other cases, (company, for example), it is more advisable to use a longer variant for reasons of comprehensibility.
4. Make further settings if required. You can find further information under:
