Configuration for Fully Qualified
Domain and Host Names
A Web
application is started from transaction SE80 and contains a shortened URL (no
host name).
You can
solve this problem with the
icm/host_name_full
profile parameter.
For more information, see SAP Note 434918.
Analogous to shortened host names, shortened domain names should also be avoided. To support FQDN on an application server, as of kernel Release 7.10 a specific configuration is required. All components and programs that use the network interface (NI) library are affected.
· If a local file is included in the name resolution (for example, /etc/hosts, /etc/inet/hosts, /etc/inet/ipnodes or C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts), the FQDN must be specified in the first position in this name resolution (entry in front of the alias list).
· The FQDN must be specified in the DNS accordingly.
The entries in the /etc/hosts file usually meet these prerequisites – the Sun operating system is the only exception known until now. If you want to use the DNS directly, change the file /etc/nsswitch.conf accordingly.
For the ICM you have the option of controlling your FQDN using the profile parameter icm/host_name_full.
