Returning payment items
You have the option of returning payment items already posted to customer accounts or CpD (suspense) accounts that are not to be accepted (return debit, return check). Only recipient items can be returned.
You also have the option of reversing a payment item or making a transfer posting.
You have made the required settings in the Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) by choosing Item Management ® Basic Functions ® Returns:
· Define Return Reasons
· Define Returnable Transaction Types
· Define Amount Threshold for Express Message
· Set Payment Notes for Returns
...
1. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Account Management ® Account ® Turnovers, Balances and Key Figures ® Payment Item ® Return Payment Item.
2. Enter your selection and choose Execute.
You obtain an overview of all items that can be returned.
3. Double click on an item or a position or Detail to obtain the detail display of the payment item.
4. To return a payment item, choose Return here.
5. Specify the medium, payment method and value date for the return and select one of the pre-defined return reasons. The transaction type is defaulted according to the Customizing settings.
The system generates and updates a payment order with the ordering party and recipient of the return. Any existing guaranteed amount (for check returns) is taken into consideration. Your Customizing settings determine whether and how payment advice notes for the business partners are supported.
The payment item receives the status Returned. You can use the References tab page to display the generated payment order.
6. To transfer post the payment item, choose Transfer Posting here.
7. Enter the data for the account to which you want to make the transfer posting of the payment item. In addition, you can enter a payment form number, a comment or a prenote reference number.
The system generates a payment order that reverses the posting in the original account on the ordering party side and posts a recipient position/item to the new account on the recipient side.
The payment item receives the status Reversed. Via the References tab page you can display the payment order, the reverse item (Reference Reversal) and the new item (Transfer Posting of New Item).
8. To reverse the payment item, choose Reverse here.
The payment item is reversed when you confirm the return query.
