Editing and Managing Planning
Profiles
You use this function in order to split the entire set of planning objects available in the system into subsets and to assign these subsets to the users based on the different tasks.
...
...
1. To create a new planning profile, choose Profile ® Create.
2. Enter a technical name and a description of the profile. Confirm your entries.
3. Define the properties of the profile (see under “editing profile”).
...
...
1. Select the planning profile that you want to edit and choose Profile ® Change.
Four areas appear in the right-hand side of the screen. Of these four areas, the two on the left show the planning areas and planning functions available in the system and the two on the right show those objects that are assigned to the planning profile.
In addition you have the option of adding global
sequences to the profile or making a selection from the variables which belong
to the planning areas contained in the profile. Use
Sequences or
Variables to
do this.
2.
To
assign a planning area, a planning level or a planning
package to the profile, select it and choose
. You can also transfer the object to the profile
using Drag&Drop.
¡ If you assign an object to a profile and the object's higher-level objects are not yet contained in the profile, the system adds them automatically.
¡ If you assign an object to the profile and this object has lower-level objects, you are able to determine how this object is added to the profile by using the Add to Profile with All Lower-Level Objects option.
§ If the indicator is set, all selected objects in the first tree are transferred to the profile with all lower-level objects. In this way you can transfer a planning area with all the corresponding planning levels, packages, and parameter groups to the profile.
§ If the indicator is not set, only the selected objects in the first tree are included in the profile. In this way you can transfer a planning area without the corresponding planning levels, packages, and parameter groups to the profile.

You can assign multiple objects to the profile at once. The objects need not be of the same type: For example, you can expand the object hierarchy for two planning areas so that all planning levels and planning packages are visible. Select all expanded objects and transfer them to the profile using Drag&Drop.
3.
Transfer the required planning functions with
their parameter groups to the profile. To get a list of the planning functions
to be added, double click on the planning level whose planning functions you
wish to add to the profile. Select the desired functions and parameter groups
and choose
. You can also transfer the
object to the profile using Drag&Drop.

You can also activate a planning profile by double-clicking on it.
2. To go back to the planning environment click on Planning or use Goto ® Planning. The planning objects that are displayed and that can be edited are exactly those that belong to the planning profile that you have set.

In order to reset the planning profile and to have access again to all the planning objects in the system, choose Edit ® General Overview in the planning environment.
...
...
1. Select the planning profile that you want to delete and choose Profile ® Delete.
2. After you have confirmed the security query that follows, the profile is removed from the system. The planning objects that were assigned to the profile remain intact.

If you delete the planning profile that you have set for yourself, you automatically receive an overview of all planning objects each time you call up the planning environment.
When you create new objects, the system places these at the top of the relevant planning hierarchy. You can change the sequence that is produced centrally:
...
1. Exit profile maintenance using the Planning pushbutton.
2. Generate the general overview of all planning objects defined in the system using Edit® General Overview.
3. Move the objects affected to the desired position by choosing Edit ® Move to Upper/Lower Tree ® Move Up/Move Down (or by using Drag&Drop).

The sequence that is set in the general overview cannot be changed in the context of a profile; it is automatically included in all profiles. Each profile inherits the sequence of objects that is determined centrally.
