Background documentation Time-Dependent Editing of Contract Relationships Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Background

When you edit a master contract according to the function to be executed, note the following restrictions for the editing time:

Adding Participants

Based on the settings in the product, you can have as many contracts on as many levels as required in a master contract. You are allowed to set up hierarchies, which means that you can add several levels of participants below the main contract.

You can add participants to any level of the tree apart from the main contract level – the root of the tree, which must contain one contract only. The main contract serves as the technical assignment point of the hierarchy, which you can interpret as you wish from a business perspective.

You can add participants to a master contract at the current or at future points in time.

You cannot add any participants for time points in the past. This function is not provided in the dialog. The system issues an error message via BAPI and direct input.

To ensure that extremely complex, time-dependent hierarchies (for example, for Cash Concentration) remain clear and simple, the following restrictions apply:

...

·        You can only insert a participant as long as none of the following future changes are made to the existing predecessor:

¡        The predecessor is reassigned and has a new higher-level participant.

¡        The predecessor has a new same-level participant, meaning that a new participant is inserted behind it (on the same level) where you are trying to insert a participant.

¡        The predecessor has a new, first lower-level participant, meaning that a participant is inserted in first place on the level below.

The system confirms (in dialog mode on the screen, otherwise in the application log) the date by which the participant was inserted. If this length of participation is not sufficient, you have the option of reentering the participant one day after the specified date, thereby including it for a longer period of time. If no future changes exist for the predecessor, then the participant is unrestricted and the system does not issue a message.

Future insert and reassignment activities that do not take place in the immediate vicinity in the hierarchy (such as same-level participants of the new higher-level participant or on higher levels) have no effect.

·        You can add a contract to one master contract at one specific time only. If this contract is already a participant of the master contract in the future, its current participation cannot last beyond this future date unless the system restricts the participation by another change beforehand.

·        In contrast to in dialog processing of a master contract, you can add a contract at any point during BAPI or Direct Input processing:

                            a.      Firstly, you select the superordinate participant.

                            b.      The system assigns the new participant to this participant in the last position of the lower level. If the participant is restricted, then the time restriction is displayed.

                            c.      You can then assign the participant to its actual position. If the participant is restricted, then the system displays the time restriction every time that the participant is repositioned.

Removing Participants

You can remove each participant from the master contract again. Note the following restrictions:

·        The Fixed Participant indicator was set at creation.

·        The root contract cannot be removed.

·        The participants to be deleted are not assigned to any participants.

You cannot remove any participants in the past. This function is not provided in the dialog. The system issues an error message via BAPI and direct input.

The system removes a complete participant, irrespective of the different positions it has in different time slots in the hierarchy, provided each time slot is adjacent to another. If the participant becomes a member of the same master contract again after a break, the system ignores the more recent entry. You can also delete individual participation periods (directly consecutive periods of time).

Reassigning a Participant

This function supports the handling of complex hierarchies, such as those used for cash concentration.

Recommendation

To increase data security, we recommend that you deactivate the Reassign Participant function for the following products: Simple card pools and contract pools that are used for interest compensation only. If you want to add or remove participants, you can still achieve any required combination.

You can move a participant to any other position in a master contract. Note the following restrictions:

·        You can only reassign a participant up until the date on which a future change is made to its predecessor. From the time of this future change onwards, the participant being reassigned is in its former position.

·        A contract can participate in a master contract in inconsecutive time periods. You can reassign a maximum of one consecutive membership. The system ignores an entry that lies after a pause.

·        If you want to reassign a participant, then the whole branch is reassigned, including all subordinate participants irrespective of the number of lower levels. This does not affect the participation end date.

Changing Participant Attributes

You can make time-dependent changes to the attributes of a participant account (such as the transfer amount) by using the Valid On date.

Note

Note that a new entry or change is valid only until a future entry.

If the changed attributes are to be indefinitely valid, you need to overwrite all future changes. You need to set a corresponding indicator in the BAPI and direct input channels. You need to answer a query in the dialog processing.

If you have assigned attributes once to a participant, you can only change these, not remove them.

Example

Today's date is December 22, 2007.

First you assign a participant of the master contract with a maximum transfer amount of CHF 1000 from the Valid On date of January 1, 2008.

Next, you increase the maximum transfer amount to CHF 2000 from July 1, 2008.

Thirdly, you reduce the maximum transfer amount to CHF 500 on March 1, 2008.

If you do not inform the system in the dialog that the third step is to overwrite the changes in the second step, the system reduces the maximum transfer amount to CHF 500 in the third step for the time from March 1 - March 6, 2008.

Changing Participants

You can change participants to a master contract at the current or at all future points in time.

You cannot change any participants for time points in the past. This function is not provided in the dialog. The system issues an error message via BAPI and direct input.
