Settings for Characteristics
You have to select the characteristics that are required in SAP R/3 and set up the correct destination. When you perform this step for the first time, you should select all characteristics. If you change the characteristics by making subsequent changes to Customizing in SAP CRM (for example, by creating a new transaction type), you have to repeat the Customizing step for the transfer. In this case it is enough just to select the characteristic type that you changed. By selecting the Delete Old Data in Target Sys. flag, you can influence the deletion of any existing data in SAP R/3 before the new data is added.

If you do not set this flag, the old data in SAP R/3 is not deleted (even if it has been deleted in SAP CRM), and only the new additional characteristics are transferred.
Specific characteristics from SAP CRM are relevant for controlling. These characteristics are saved with the controlling object to enable subsequent evaluations of the characteristics in CO and are also used in Customizing to control postings to SAP R/3 (single-object controlling, mass-object controlling, no controlling).
To enable you to set up Customizing in SAP R/3, the existing characteristics in SAP CRM must also be recognized in SAP R/3. This means the characteristics from SAP CRM must be replicated to SAP R/3.
The following characteristics must be replicated:
· Transaction type
· Item category
· Service organization
· Responsible service organization
· Technician group
· Service type
· Valuation type
· Product category
To enable confirmations to be posted to CO objects, these objects first have to be created in SAP R/3. For this purpose, the controlling-relevant characteristics must be extracted from the CRM transaction and transferred to SAP R/3. The system then creates a CO object for the characteristics.
The following characteristics are controlling-relevant:
· Transaction type
· Transaction number
· Transaction description
· Item category
· Item number
· Item description
· Service organization
· Responsible service organization
· Technician group
· Product category
· Customer (for sold-to party)
· Service type
· Valuation type
