Defining Number Generation Settings for Sales Transactions
You use this procedure to ensure that unique numbers are generated for sales transactions created in Mobile Sales. The unique numbers help distinguish between sales transactions created in Mobile Sales and those created in SAP CRM.
The external number range is defined in Customizing for CRM ( ).
Perform the following steps in CRM Mobile System Maintenance.
Choose .
Select the transaction type for which you want Mobile Sales to generate transaction numbers.
Make a note of the number range corresponding to this transaction type.
Select the Active and Generate Transaction ID indicators.
Save the changes and then choose .
Choose the New icon on the tool bar to create a new entry.
Enter the number range for the transaction type for which you want Mobile Sales to generate transaction numbers.
This is the same number range that you noted earlier.
Select the type of business transaction (Source): activity, sales transaction, and so on.
The IDs generated by Mobile Sales for sales transactions consist of ten characters, which are based on the following values:
Prefix
This value uniquely identifies the transaction type and indicates the beginning of the transaction ID. Enter a single-character, alphanumeric value.
Logical Address
This is a unique value defined for each employee record available on the mobile client. It consists of four characters. Select the appropriate logical address.
Serial number
This is an alphanumeric value consisting of a maximum of five characters. Enter the lower limit (Suffix) and upper limit (Max. Value) for the serial number.
When sales representatives save a new transaction of the type for which you defined number generation settings, Mobile Sales generates an ID for the transaction by combining the prefix, logical address, and serial number as shown in the graphic below.
