Activity Journal Definition
You can define activity journal templates, which sales representatives can use for reporting the results of business activities.
An activity journal template can, for example, be used for collecting information about a product or for assessing the total stock available for a product.
You need configuration data for creating certain activity journal templates. Configuration data is information about configurable products, which are products that have variants. A computer, for example, can have different processors or hard disks of different sizes.
For more information, see Configurable Products.
Note
Configuration data is maintained in CRM and downloaded to the mobile clients through subscriptions, using the admin console.
For more information, see Managing Subscriptions.
Activity journals in Mobile Sales are based on activity journal templates and are used by sales representatives to report on activities.
Sales representatives can create orders related to an activity by using the Sales Transactions component in Mobile Sales.
You can do the following tasks with the Activity Journal Definition component of Mobile System Maintenance (MSY):
Search for and view activity journal templates
You can search for specific activity journal templates by specifying the criteria. From the search results, you can select and view the required template.
Create pre-filled activity journal templates
You can assign products, an activity type, and a target group to an activity journal template. This provides sales representatives with information on products to be focused on during a visit to a business partner.
Create target groups
Target groups allow you to group business partners for whom an activity journal template is intended.
Provide additional information
Activity journal templates are the basis for activity journals. Using activity journals you can:
Track the number of products distributed to a business partner.
This helps in analyzing sales data.
Track the number and type of discussions held by a sales representative.
This helps in analyzing the effort of the sales team.
Detect possible problems, such as quality issues or inadequate distribution of a product.
Certain products might, for example, have remained in the warehouse for a long time. Sales representatives use activity journals to collect information about the reasons for this problem.
Inform your sales team about the average price of a new product.
The price of a product can, for example, vary depending on the size of the order; you can use activity journals to inform sales representatives about volume-based discounts.
Analyze the stock level of products on a regional basis
