Process documentation Replication of Customer Data  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

The replication process of master data (such as, customer master data or material master data) between ERP and CRM first supplies the CRM server and finally the consolidated database (CDB). The data on the CRM server is available for all CRM applications, the data in the CDB is only for synchronizing with mobile applications.

Steps of the Replication Process

The replication process can be carried out in one or two steps:

·        In the one-step process, the incoming data is forwarded synchronously to the CDB.

·        In the two-step process, the data is first transferred to the CRM server only.

The Role of the Mobile Bridge

The mobile bridge does the mapping between the data models of the CRM server and the CDB. Whether the replication runs as a one or two-step process, depends on if the mobile bridge is activated or not.

If the mobile bridge is activated when transferring data, the data is transferred to both the database of the CRM server and the CDB in one step.

If the mobile bridge is deactivated when transferring data, the data is first transferred to the database of the CRM server. Once the mobile bridge has been activated for all objects, a new data transfer is carried out between the CRM server and the CDB.

Phases of the Replication Process

The replication process of master data comprises three phases:

·        Initial load of configuration data (Customizing load)
Before you can transfer application data from ERP to CRM successfully, you must ensure that the system settings in ERP and CRM are synchronized. There are special Customizing objects available for transferring the necessary system settings.
For more information, see Replication of Configuration Data.

·        Initial load of application data (initial load)
There are specific business objects (such as CUSTOMER_MAIN or MATERIAL) available for transferring the required master data (such as customer master or material master).

·        Continuous exchange of changes to the application data (delta load)
Changes to master data are exchanged between CRM and ERP promptly, in order to keep the datasets in the systems synchronous.

Prerequisites

Before you start the replication process for business partners, you have to make sure that the replication of the necessary customizing objects has been finished successfully.

For more information, see Replication of Customizing Objects

Procedure

Start the replication process for at least one application object using transaction R3ASin CRM. Within the transaction R3AS choose multiple selection to specify which objects you want to load. After the load process you should monitor the object load using transaction R3AM1.
