Context Menu
Functions for text nodes are always performed for the quantity of all relevant metadata entries in the corresponding context. You can then perform mass processing of metadata, whether displaying or editing the metadata in the form of a list or navigation in the metadata view.
Function |
Functionality |
Create
|
You can use this function to create a new entry in the individual display for the corresponding metadata. The fields specified by the context are already predefined. |
Display List |
You can use this function to display the list of all metadata entries for the specified context in the detail area. |
Switch to all <metadata entity> (for assignment metadata) |
This function enables you to switch from the assignment of metadata to an application, to the definition of this metadata entity. All entries for the selected metadata entity are displayed (independently of the previously selected application). |
Clean metadata (expert mode only) |
This function lists all metadata entries in the metadata tables for the specified context, that indicate a discrepancy regarding the foreign key dependencies. These obsolete entries can be deleted directly. See section Edit Metadata. |
Functions for an entry node, however, are always performed for individual processing, whether this is the processing of an individual metadata entry, linking with an individual metadata entity or links to assigned objects.
Function |
Metadata |
Functionality |
Display |
All |
This function can be used to display the full metadata entry in the individual display. |
Change |
All |
This function can be used to display the full metadata entry in the individual display. Only the fields for the data part can be changed. (If this is an inherited metadata entry, then this function is not available.) |
Display object directory entry |
Metadata entities |
You use this function to display the object directory. |
Transport |
All |
The metadata entry is written to a transport request, without changes. |
Delete |
All
|
This function can be used to delete the full metadata entry in the individual display. (If this is an inherited metadata entry, then this function is not available.) |
Redefine |
All |
This function is only available for inherited metadata entries. It can be used to redefine an entry (the entry is then created as new in the current application). The effect of the redefinition depends on the metadata. See the documentation for metadata. |
Function |
Metadata |
Functionality |
Display section |
All |
You can use this function to restrict the display to a section of the tree. Only the sub-tree from the selected metadata entry will be displayed. This is useful, for example, if you are already displaying a large number of hierarchy levels. |
Display <metadata entity> |
Assignment metadata |
This function can be used to call the individual display for the corresponding metadata entity directly. |
Switch to this <metadata entity> |
Assignment metadata |
This function enables you to switch from the assignment of metadata to an application, to the definition of this metadata entity. |
Display last log |
Application |
You can use this function to display the log for the last generation of the application. |
Goto -> Generation logs |
Application |
This function can be used to switch to the display for all generation logs of an application. See section Edit Metadata. |
Service Mapping -> Display Object List |
Service Feature |
You can use this function to call the service mapping for a service feature. You can edit the individual entries in the object list. |
Switch to -> Service |
Service Feature |
This function enables you to change from the assignment of a service feature to an application, to the definition of the corresponding service. |
Function |
Metadata |
Functionality |
Generate Application -> Online / In Background |
Application |
This function is used to regenerate the entire application. You can choose whether this is done online or in the background. |
Generate Application (with conversion) -> Online / In Background |
Application |
This function is used to regenerate the entire application. You can choose whether this is done online or in the background. While standard generation excludes database conversions based on deleted table fields, you can use this function to clear the database tables. (You need to perform a conversion afterwards using a database utility.) |
Generate |
Function group, function module, report, class, method, business add-in |
You use this function to regenerate the object for the selected metadata entry (possibly with its sub-objects). |
Function |
Metadata |
Functionality |
Metadata -> Check (or check metadata) |
Application; containers, features, events |
You can use this function to trigger a check for consistency of the corresponding metadata entries. See section Consistency Check |
Metadata -> Clean (expert mode only) |
Metadata entities |
You can use this function to perform a foreign key check for the corresponding metadata entries. See section Cleaning Metadata. |
Modification Analysis -> Technical / Functional |
Application, Feature |
You can use this function to perform an analysis of the modifications to an application within the BE Framework modification concept. This mainly involves an overview of the features assigned to the application or to a specific feature with its feature attributes (= technical modifications) and its subscriptions to events in workbench objects (= functional modifications). See section Modification Analysis. |
Display fields |
Container, structure |
You can use this function to display all the fields of a container or an individual container, based on the current status of the metadata. See section Container Structure Analysis. |
Where-Used List |
Assignment metadata, metadata entities |
You can use this function to determine in which applications a given metadata entity is used. See section Where-Used List. |
Service Mapping -> Simulation Inbound / Outbound |
Service Feature |
You can use this function to simulate the coding that is generated based on the assignments in service mapping. This applies to mapping to the service container and also to mapping back to the container for the application. |
Template Analysis -> Check Generation Syntax |
Function group, function module, subscription, report, method |
You can use this function to check the correctness of the corresponding templates with regards to the generation syntax (i.e. whether the template language of the BE Framework is kept to). Any errors are displayed in a separate log. |
Template Analysis -> Generation Commands (expert mode only) |
Function group, function module, subscription, report, method |
You can use this function to create an overview of the generation commands used in the corresponding template (in the template language of the BE Framework). You can continue navigating by double-clicking in this list. |
Template Analysis -> Call Hierarchy |
Function Modules |
You can use this function to create a transparent overview of the process flow within a function module. It only creates a result for templates formatted for this function. See section Template Analysis. |
Check Generated Objects |
Application, function group, report, class |
You can use this function to check that the syntax is correct for the objects generated from the templates. |

Metadata |
Functionality |
Goto -> Generated… ... Database Table ... Block Object ... Structure … Top Include … Coding
