You can use this business function to allow business users to use the Business Rule Framework plus (BRFplus) instead of the Business Rule Framework (BRF) to create and maintain business rules for Grantor Management. BRFplus is a business rule engine available in SAP NetWeaver. It is a comprehensive framework that helps business and IT users model rules used for automatic decision support in various business cases. Advanced features, such as a Web-based user interface, traceability, and simulation, ease the effort and time invested in implementing policies and rules. Business users can quickly prototype business rules with a feedback-based build cycle (build, simulate, and optimize) without involving IT users, which reduces project cycle times. BRFplus has easy-to-use and intuitive rule composition and management (modeling rather than programming).

BRFplus is the rule engine used for SAP Business Suite applications (for example, SAP Tax and Revenue Management for Public Sector and SAP Social Services Management for Public Sector). This means that SAP for Public Sector users do not have to maintain two different rule engines.

Integration

BRFplus is integrated with Grantor Management in the same way as BRF is integrated with Grantor Management. BRFplus is integrated with Grantor Management through Web requests and SAP Interactive Forms software by Adobe as well as through the application, agreement, claim, and change request transactions. The post processing framework (PPF) actions used for the assessment process steps are also integrated with BRFplus.

Features

The standard BRFplus application for Grantor Management is CRM_GRM_WR_DEMO_RULES. This is a generic BRFplus application that has been preconfigured for the processes in Grantor Management and in which you can define your own business rules. A whole range of sample functions, expressions, and actions are part of the standard delivery. However, if required, you can define your own BRFplus application, which you then have to configure for your Grantor Management processes. You can define your own functions, expressions, actions, rule set, and groups in BRFplus. Form Validation for Web Requests and SAP Interactive Forms

Form validation examples for Web requests and SAP Interactive Forms are available in BRFplus. The standard CRM Web Request Read expression and CRM WR Message action are used to interact with the data on the forms. The validation process step executes checks on the correctness of the form content, for example, the dates entered on the form. This is done interactively, so that a message is displayed as the user is entering the data on the form. The user can see the results of the validation.

Grantor Application Assessments

A sample grantor program uses BRFplus to assess grantor applications. In the application, you can execute a PPF action that calls BRFplus to determine eligibility and to calculate the grant amount. A sample coding to call BRFplus within the grantor application is available. BRF rules are used in scheduled actions. You can manually assess an application by executing a PPF action.

Application Logs

You can define the content of messages that are displayed to the user in the application log after one of the following process steps has been executed:

  • Application assessment

  • Claims assessment

To define the content of the messages, you can use the CRM Message action that is available in BRFplus.
