Function documentationEmbedding a Rapid Application

You can embed the rapid application as a new assignment block in one or more applications. You can map the parameters of the rapid application to the application data by embedding the rapid application or you can assign default values. You can embed a rapid application in any overview page of an existing application.

Features

Embedding a Rapid Application

To embed a rapid application, open the application in which you want to embed the rapid application and open the page configuration. You can choose from the following options:

  • Start of the navigation path Embedded Views Next navigation step Embed Rapid Application End of the navigation path

  • Start of the navigation path Embedded Views Next navigation step Display All Next navigation step Rapid Applications Next navigation step Embed End of the navigation path

The function is provided in the form of a guided activity that guides you through the process of embedding a rapid application. Within the process, you can navigate backwards and forwards as required.

Screen 1: Select Embeddable Views

Here you select the rapid application that you would like to embed.

Screen 2: Map Search Parameters

Here you assign default values or attribute tags to the input parameter fields. Attribute tags refer to the data model of the application in which you embed the rapid application. The attribute tags are filtered according to the UI object type, which is derived from the overview page of the application in which you embed the rapid application. For more information about attribute tags, see Customizing for UI Framework under Start of the navigation path UI Framework Definition Next navigation step Global Attribute Tags Next navigation step Define Attribute Tags End of the navigation path.

Note Note

For the data type Time, you cannot use 00:00(:00) as a default value since this cannot be distinguished from an initial value.

End of the note.

The system ensures that the input parameters are filled at runtime with the values you define here.

Screen 3: Configure View

Here you choose the required display mode, table view or form view, and enter a name for the embedded rapid application.

Note Note

In the form view, only the first entry of a result list is displayed. Make sure that the data displayed is useful.

End of the note.

Choose Complete and save your entries. The embedded rapid applications appear in the list of available assignment blocks in the page configuration of the overview page. From here, you can display the rapid application as an additional assignment block.

Changing and Removing the Embedding

You can change the embedding of a rapid application. For example, you can change the mapping of the search parameters or the display mode.

To remove the embedding of a rapid application, you must first hide the rapid application as an assignment block in the page configuration. You can then remove the embedding. To do so, in the page configuration choose Start of the navigation path Embedded Views Next navigation step Display All Next navigation step Remove End of the navigation path.

Deleting a Rapid Application

To delete an existing rapid application, you must first remove its embedding. You can then delete the rapid application in the work center Administration by choosing Manage Rapid Applications.

Resetting the Embedding of a Rapid Application to Default

You can undo changes to the embedding of a rapid application delivered and embedded by SAP, and reset it to default. To do so, in the page configuration choose Start of the navigation path Embedded Views Next navigation step Display All Next navigation step Reset to Default End of the navigation path.
