You can use this function to enter rights information manually in a rights group for either a rights scope or rights and royalties scope.

Integration

This function is available when you edit a rights group within a rights scope or rights and royalties scope in the following applications:

  • Intellectual property

  • License acquisition contracts

  • License sales contracts

  • Rights availability analysis

Features

For all rights types that you can edit, such as the rights owned, release dates, release restrictions, rights & royalties, rights, royalties and rights requested, you can enter one of the following to manually specify the properties of the rights dimensions:

  • Attribute ID

  • Attribute description

  • Rights view ID for hierarchical attribute

  • Rights view description for hierarchical attribute

Note Note

Ambiguities can occur, because the description is not unique and the ID can correspond to both an attribute and a view. If this happens, you can use the value help to select the rights dimension you wish to enter.

Options

You can set up several options in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Industry-Specific Solutions Next navigation step Media Next navigation step Intellectual Property Management Next navigation step Rights and Royalties Dimensions Next navigation step Define Rights Maintenance End of the navigation path. These include:

  • The separator, such as “,” or “;”, between each rights dimension. This allows you to enter multiple values at the time same time.

    The actual separator to use is defined in the Define Rights Maintenance Customizing activity (in SAP Customizing for CRM, select Start of the navigation path Industry-Specific Solutions Next navigation step Media Next navigation step Intellectual Property Management Next navigation step Rights and Royalties Dimensions Next navigation step Define Rights Maintenance End of the navigation path)

  • Whether the attribute ID or description displays in the rights scope or rights and royalties scope

  • Whether an error message displays when you enter an attribute value and a subordinate attribute for a rights or royalties dimension.

Activities

When you enter the rights manually and press Enter, the system:

  • Checks to ensure that the rights attributes are valid

  • Deletes any duplicate entries

  • Lists the individual attributes within a rights view if you have entered a description or ID for a rights view

  • Either deletes any subordinate rights dimension attribute if the superordinate rights dimension attribute was already entered, or displays an error message, depending on the settings in Customizing activity Define Rights Maintenance

  • Displays the attribute according to the settings in Customizing activity Define Rights Maintenance

    Example Example

    You have entered an attribute ID and Customizing parameter is set to display a description. In this case, the system replaces the attribute ID with the corresponding description that you have entered. You enter this description on the SAP Easy Access screen by choosing Start of the navigation path Industries Next navigation step Intellectual Property Management Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Products Next navigation step Maintain Hierarchical Attributes End of the navigation path.

    Note Note

    If, when you enter a specific value for a rights dimension, the system cannot find a corresponding entry in the attribute value table, it erases your entry.
