Function documentationIntellectual Property Mass Changes

If you need to make multiple changes to one or more Intellectual Properties (IPs), you can use the Mass Changes feature to carry out the required modifications, instead of making individual changes separately.

The mass change procedure is the sequence of steps that specifies the IPs to change and the types of changes to make.

To use this function, you must activate the business function Intellectual Property Management (CRM_IPM_1).

Examples

Changing Attributes to a Group of Intellectual Properties

For multiple IPs that you select, you wish to change the content category from Drama to Thriller (you use the attribute content category to express the genre).

Terminate the Rights to Multiple Intellectual Properties

As a result of a library being sold, you need to terminate the rights to multiple Intellectual Properties

Change the Rights Dimensions Values of Selected Intellectual Properties

Individual rights dimension values Merchandising –> Men –> Footwear and Merchandising –> Women –> Footwear is consolidated into the new rights dimension value Merchandising –> Leather –> Footwear and you need to change all Intellectual Properties with the original rights dimension values.

Features

The Steps of a Mass Change Procedure

A step in a mass change procedure consists of:

  • An operation (Select, Add, Delete, Change)

  • The component of the IP on which the operation is to be carried out, referred to as the node.

The Different Types of Operations

There are four types of operations that can be carried out during the execution of a mass change procedure:

  • Select

    • Used to select IPs or IP nodes

    • Essentially a filter, where you use a search tool to specify the criteria of the IPs or IP nodes you wish to modify.

  • Add

    • Used to add new nodes to selected IPs

  • Delete

    • Used to delete nodes from selected IPs

  • Change

    • Used to modify attribute values of selected IP nodes

The Structure of a Mass Change Procedure

Mass change procedures are presented in tree format in the Procedure Overview assignment block:

  • The root node represents the header information of the mass change procedure (for example, the template information and the background execution settings)

  • The first sub-node is always a Select IPs step where you choose the IPs to change.

  • All other sub-nodes under the Select IPs step are the operational steps on the selected IPs.

For a visual representation of the node hierarchy for IPs, see Visual Representation of IP Nodes.

Example Example

  • IP Mass Change (root node)

    • 1. Select IPs

      • 2. Select Rights Owned — Rights Scopes

        • 3. Add Rights Owned — Rights Group

      • 4. Select Release Dates — Rights Scopes

        • 5. Add Release Dates — Rights Group

  • In the example above, there are two steps directly subordinate to the Select IPs step:

    • Select Rights Owned — Rights Scopes (Step 2)

    • Select Release Dates — Rights Scopes (Step 4)

These steps are carried out on the IPs located by the Select IPs step.

  • In the example above, there are steps that are subordinate to the Select Rights Owned — Rights Scopes and Select Release Dates — Rights Scopes steps:

    • Add Rights Owned — Rights Group (Step 3)

    • Add Release Dates — Rights Group (Step 5)

These steps are carried out on the rights scopes that are involved during the execution of the corresponding superordinate steps. More specifically:

    • Add Rights Owned — Rights Group (Step 3) is carried out on the rights scopes selected from Select Rights Owned — Rights Scopes (Step 2)

    • Add Release Dates — Rights Group (Step 5) is carried out on the rights scopes selected from Select Release Dates — Rights Scopes (Step 4)

End of the example.
