Function documentationCheck for Changes on Field Level

This section is only relevant for Microsoft Outlook.

An item in Microsoft Outlook is considered modified if its last modified time has changed since the last synchronization. If the Conflicts/Confirmations window is shown, this item appears in the list.

However, the last modified time of an item in Microsoft Outlook can change without the business user making any changes to the content. This can happen due a number of activities on the Microsoft Exchange server and a delay in saving. Similarly, the last modified time of an item in SAP CRM can change without the business user making any changes to the content. This can happen due to a number of activities in the SAP CRM system, such as partner determination, attachment of factsheets to appointments, and saving.

To ensure that such items are not displayed in the Conflicts/Confirmations window in the above cases, you can activate a field-level comparison for the item in Microsoft Outlook and SAP CRM. If all the fields are same and only the last modified time is different between the items, the items are not displayed.

Note Note

If an item with an attachment exists in both SAP CRM and the groupware client, only the names of attachments are compared during the check. If the content of the attachment was modified in Microsoft Outlook or SAP CRM without changing the name, the check considers the attachments as being the same. The item is not shown in the Conflicts/Confirmations window, but is synchronized in the background.

End of the note.
Activation of Field Level Comparison in Groupware Profile (Administrators)

As an administrator, you enable or disable the field-level check in the SAP GUI transaction GWIPROFILE. For the parameter EnableItemLevelCheck, enter 1 as the parameter value to activate the check. The default value for this parameter is 0 (field-level check is disabled).
