 General Product Structure

Products for the utilities industry consist of four main components:

  • Product Header (Partially Versioned)

The version, status, validity and general product data, such as the product ID and the base category are stored and maintained in the product header. For more information, see Product Header Data.

  • Product Attributes and Product Attribute Groups (Versioned)

Configuration attributes are used to model individual products. Attributes are combined in attribute groups.

  • Modeling Components (Versioned)

You can assign product modules to all product roles to accelerate the modeling process. The corresponding product blocks are inherited here, and in some cases the attributes for a module are transferred to the assigned product. If sales products are involved, you have the option of assigning a reference product at the time of creation, which inherits its characteristics to the product.

  • Product Components and Product Component Groups

If hierarchical products, such as utilities packages and product determination objects are involved, individual sub components or components are also assigned here.

The following diagram shows the four components and shows the elements in these components in the section that follows.
