You link financial service products (FS products) with product categories in order to map a business dependency between products in FS quotations. For each of these FS relationships, you define the purpose, which specifies in more detail the type of relationship involved. You define that an FS product in the FS quotation needs a product of a specific category for a defined purpose.
The advantage of linking FS products with categories rather than linking them to other FS products is that you can design your product landscape more flexibly.
You have defined the possible purposes of FS relationships in Customizing forFinancial Services
under .
You can create FS relationships only for products of the product type 07 FS Product

You can link one FS product with several categories for different purposes.
In a FS quotation, when you use an FS product that you linked with a product category for a specific purpose, the system maps the FS relationships as item relationships in the document.
For more information, see Transfer of Products to Financial Service Quotations.
