Product Structuring Object Versus Inheritance Logic

If the product structuring object (PSO) is exchanged with a saleable product, all products found by the PSO in the sub-items are deleted and the standard inheritance logic is applied.

Note Note

For information about the standard inheritance logic, see the IS-U/CRM Contract Integration cookbook in the unit Structured Utilities Contract.

End of the note.

If a saleable product is exchanged with a PSO, all products inherited to the sub-items are also deleted and the PSO product determination is performed.

Structured Document with PSO

The PSO is found in the main item in a contract or quotation. It can be entered manually or can be defined automatically by assigning the PSO to a label in a point of delivery.

The system then automatically starts a new product search for the sub-items and their configuration automatically if the product or point of delivery is exchanged and if the context data used in the rule is changed. The icon in the Product Structuring column displays the result of product determination. The menu that you can expand from this icon contains product proposals and a link to the standard search.

Product Proposals

If several proposals exist and no proposal has been defined as a default, the user must select a proposal manually. Various products and different configurations of a product can be proposed here. To copy a product proposal, the user must always explicitly select this. If they enter a product ID manually, which is also used in the product proposals, the system does not treat this product as a product proposal, because any configuration attributes in the proposal are not to be copied here.

Override Rule-Based Determination

Alternatively, you can enter a product manually or using the product search if necessary. By doing so, you can override rule-based determination. You can also perform a rule-based check of products that have been entered manually.

Rule-Based Product Configuration

You can also perform rule-based determination of the actual products, their configuration values and the product short text. This means you can implement several products using a single CRM product.

Mass Processing

You can access mass processing functions by choosing Product Structuring: You can repeat rule-based determination for selected items and add or delete products.

  • Proposal List

The icons in the Proposal and Validity columns or their tooltip text provide information about whether products match the proposals and whether products are admissible (valid).

  • Product Search

The system also checks whether products in the search result list are valid for the items selected.

Simulation

You can test product determination and configuration using a PSO during Product Modeling for the Utilities Industry (PMU). The system simulates the PSO being assigned to the active point of delivery set using a label that is identical in all points of delivery this contains.
