You can translate field labels that have been created in the design layer by using transaction SE63 and the translation object type DLLC. This object type has been introduced especially for the translation of field labels in the design layer. Your translation is saved in a separate customer table.

Activities

Finding Out the UI Object Type and the Design Object

Before you start the translation, you need to find out the UI object type and the design object.

  1. Start SAP CRM and select the business object.

  2. Select an input field and press F2 to start the Technical Data dialog.

    You can find the UI object type and the design object in the technical information about the design layer.

The label origin must be the design layer. You can find this information in the technical information about the configuration at runtime in the Technical Data dialog.

Translating by Using the UI Object Type and the Design Object
  1. Start transaction SE63.

    You see the page Initial Screen: Standard Translation Environment.

  2. Enter DLLC in the transaction code field.

    You see the page Translation: ABAP Short Texts: CRM Design Layer Field Labels (Customer).

  3. In the field Object Name, enter the UI object type followed by the design object that you found out beforehand. They need to be separated by an asterisk (*), for example, BP_ACCOUNT*BP_SEARCH.

  4. Press F4 and then ENTER.

    The system automatically includes the necessary empty spaces between the UI object type and the design object.

  5. Choose the source language and target language, English as the source language and German as the target language, for example.

  6. Click Edit to translate the object.

  7. Save your entries.

Translating by Using the Collection

You can also use the collection for translation purposes. The collection technically corresponds to the package, which you can find out in the Technical Data dialog of the CRM WebClient UI. You can start the Technical Data dialog with the F2 key. The package name is available in the technical information about the UI component.

  1. Start transaction SE63.

    You see the page Initial Screen: Standard Translation Environment.

  2. Enter DLLC in the transaction code field.

    You see the page Translation: ABAP Short Texts: CRM Design Layer Field Labels (Customer).

  3. In the field Object Name, press F4 to start the input help.

  4. In the field Collection, enter the collection/package that you found out beforehand.

    You see a list with a combination of UI object types/design objects that belong to this collection.

  5. Click the RIGHT ARROW key with the quick info text Next Variant to see more technical details.

  6. Select the design object that you want to translate.

  7. Choose the source language and the target language.

  8. Click Edit to translate the object.

  9. Save your entries.
