 Copying Products

You can copy utilities products. The procedure for doing so is described below:

  1. From Product Modeling for Utilities, navigate to the overview page for the product required.

  2. Navigate from here to the product master by choosing Product in the toolbar.

  3. Choose the Copy function from the toolbar.

  4. Assign a new name in the field Service ID and save the new product.

The following specific features of utilities products should be observed when using the copying function:

Product Version

The system only copies the most recent version of the product. Previous versions are not observed here. Not including historical data reduces the dataset and provides a clearer overview during product maintenance.

Note Note

Product versions with the status Obsolete cannot be copied. In this situation, the system uses the last version with the status Released.

End of the note.

Note Note

If products with an IPC model and IPC attributes are involved, the system does not include this model and attributes during copying.

End of the note.

Rules

When copying utilities products or product packages in the utilities industry, the system also copies assigned rules that have been defined as not reusable. This ensures that changes to a rule always only apply to the context of a product or package. If changes are made to a rule in the original product after a product has been copied, these changes do not affect the rule for the product copied.
