 Transporting Utilities Products

Features

The goal of the product transport for utilities products is to transport modeled products to the connected systems consistently.

This provides a simple means of keeping the catalog of utilities products up to date in all systems.

Integrated status management means it is possible to maintain a consistent status in a system landscape, which consists of the development, test and production system, without affecting productive operations.

All relevant product data including BRFplus functions and the IPC knowledge base is transported and all transport steps are summarized in a log. Since the utilities products transport is performed for specific versions, you can only transport products that use version management.

The single transportable version of a utilities product is also the most recent version in each case. This means that chronologically older versions cannot be transported subsequently. This means that a transport of products that do not contain any utilities version managemenent (utilities products prior to enhancement package 3) or a transport of several versions simultaneously is not supported.

Note Note

This function is available as of support package 3 for enhancement package 3 for SAP CRM 7.0. You must activate the business function Product Transport for Utilities (CRM_UT_PROD_TRANS).

A product version created from an import transaction cannot be defined as the source for a new transport to different target systems for technical reasons if BRFplus functions are being used. When BRFplus functions are distributed, these are not stored locally in the target system, but are only available as an executable version that cannot be used as the source of a new distribution.

If you create a new version for a product, you can no longer transport the previous version. This means that if you have created a new version in error, you can only resolve this error if you retain the new version as an exact copy of the previous version and transport it to all relevant systems.

End of the note.
