Function documentationAccrual Calculation

You use the accrual calculation function to simulate the effects of accruals on your scenarios. You display the results of the accrual calculation in scenario analyses.

Integration

Accrual calculations are based on accrual models that you define in the SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) component. For more information about working with accrual calculation models, see Setting Up Accrual Calculation Models in SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence and Retrieval of Planning Data Without Master Data Activation.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for SAP NetWeaver BI, you have maintained the planning content to indicate if the analysis uses accruals.

If you want the system to automatically determine which accrual model to use for the calculation, you have made settings in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management (CRM), by choosing Start of the navigation path Marketing Next navigation step Marketing Planning and Campaign Management Next navigation step Scenario Planning Next navigation step Business Add-Ins Next navigation step BAdI: Determine Accrual Model End of the navigation path.

Features

The system calculates the accruals for the hierarchy of marketing projects in a scenario. This scenario hierarchy is a subset of the marketing hierarchy, which is the basis on which the accruals are usually calculated in the system. The accrual calculation reads the key figures from the DataSource maintained in the accrual model, and determines accruals by the periods specified. The results are stored in an Operational Data Store (ODS), with reference to the scenario. The results are not used in financial reporting or in accrual calculations for other scenarios.

Note Note

You can also calculate accruals directly in SAP NetWeaver BI. By doing this, you do a financial calculation that does not relate to a scenario. Compared to scenario-related accrual calculation, this calculation considers active marketing projects only, and selects key figures based on financial criteria. The ODS characteristic for the scenario name remains empty. For more information about accrual calculation in SAP NetWeaver BI, see Starting the Accrual Calculation in SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence.

End of the note.

You must calculate accruals for a scenario before you display a scenario analysis that includes accruals.

If you edit a scenario, you must do the accrual calculation again.
