Utilities retailers who service large commercial and industrial (C&I) customers have to cater to thousands of service locations. For example, a utilities energy retailer sells electricity as a product that is delivered at a specific place known as a service location or point of delivery (PoD). C&I customers may have thousands of PoD, and may often change service providers due to cost benefits provided because of intense competition. The master data for upload, which may be thousands of PoD, is provided by prospective C&I customers. The PoD have to be imported in to the SAP CRM system for a quotation to be generated before a service contract is signed. Utilities Data Import Tool is a comprehensive mechanism that enables a Key Account Manager (KAM) to manage upload of master data into the SAP CRM system. It encompasses the complete process of uploading data using delimiter separated files, creating new data records or updating existing ones, assignment of internal or external numbers to new data records, and simulation of import data before the actual import.
