Combinations of Selection Filters With “AND” and “OR”
In the standard system, you can only link filters based on a data source with “AND” and “OR”. However, you can change this standard response.
Note
This function is only available for attributes from the same attribute list. For more information about linking filters from various attribute lists, see Drag and Drop for Segmentation Elements in the Graphical Modeler.
The standard response for combinations is as follows:
Values in an attribute are automatically linked using OR
(for example country “Germany” OR “France”).
Marketing attributes are the exception to this. You can choose between AND
and OR
here. If you are using an advanced filter for marketing attributes, the OR
link is always applied automatically here.
If you link filters from various attributes, these are always linked using AND
.
You cannot use filters from different data sources in a single drag and drop operation.
If you make subsequent changes to a segmentation step, the dialog box Add Filter
only contains attributes from the same data source.
The restrictions are as follows:
If the data source does not reference marketing attributes, you can only use the Time Frame
option for selections if the attribute has the data type DATS. If the data source references marketing attributes, you can use the time frame option for selections if the marketing attribute has the data type DATE.
If the step for a segment contains a selection filter with the operator Hierarchy
(HI), it cannot contain any other filters for the same attribute.
The following applies to filters that are based on compound characteristics:
You can only use the Equal
(EQ) operator.
You cannot use any additional filters that are based on a compound attribute for the compound characteristic.
You can only use one filter that is based on compound characteristics for each step in a segment.
You cannot use two filters in a drag and drop operation that each reference a compound characteristic in such a way that the two compound characteristics have a shared compound attribute. Example: You have defined a filter Region
= 002 and a filter Postal Code
= 42769. The characteristics Region
and Postal Code
are compounded using the attribute Country
. You cannot now use both of these filters in a single drag and drop operation.
You cannot use compound characteristics in advanced filters.
By activating the switch Active
, you can change the standard response using the report CRM_MKTTG_SEG_CUST_FLT_SWITCH. The most important changes are the following:
Values in an attribute are always linked automatically by OR
. This also applies to marketing attributes.
If you link filters from various attributes, you can choose between AND
and OR
.
You can select selection filters from different data sources and use them in a single drag and drop operation. Note the following:
If you link filters from various data sources in a single step using AND
, the system creates a Keep
step in the segment for each data source.
If you link filters from various data sources in a single step using OR
, the system only creates one Keep
step in the segment.
You can combine filters for compound characteristic values and those for characteristics with BW hierarchies with additional filters (for example if you link filters to various attributes using OR).
