Procedure documentationCreating Packages

Procedure

1. Create Product Categories

You create product categories specifically for product packages in the normal manner on the Product Hierarchy page. You assign the product categories the following relationship types:

  • Sales Components

    • SCSLC Sales Components (SC)

    • SCP2G Product Groups for SC

    • SCTXS Explanations for SC

  • Dependent Components

    • SCDEC Dependent Components (DC)

    • SCP2D Product Groups for DC

    • SCTXD Explanations for DC

    • SCCFD Value Propagation for DC

  • Rate Plan Combinations

    SCRPC Rate Plan Combinations

  • Cross-Selling

    • SCCRS Cross-Selling (C-S)

    • SCTXC Explanations for C-S

  • Up-Selling

    • SCUPS Up-Selling (U-S)

    • SCTXU Explanations for U-S

    • SCCFU Value Propagation for U-S

For more information about working with product hierarchies, see Creation of Categories and Hierarchies.

2. Assign Product Roles

To work with product packages, a product role has to be assigned to the product categories being used. You do this in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Products Next navigation step Settings for Packages Next navigation step Assign Product Roles to Categories End of the navigation path

The product role defines the nature of the product hierarchy and therefore the type of products that are created.

There are three product roles available:

  • Sales Package

  • Combined Rate Plan

  • Rate Plan

3. Create Products
  1. On the Product page, search for the product you require, or create a new product.

  2. Assign the product to a category. Enter a category to which one of the roles is assigned, otherwise the system cannot handle the product accordingly when running the product configuration and determining the assignment of products.

4. Create Relationships

The component structure is a hierarchical table with all sales package components. The sequence of the components is important, as it is applied at runtime. The structure includes products and groups.

Create relationships as follows:

  • Sales components

You assign various components to the main sales package product using the Sales Components relationship type. You can link other products to these assigned products using other relationship types, such as Dependent Components. However, the link between the top package product and the products on the top level of the sales package hierarchy must be maintained using the Sales Components relationship type.

  • Dependent components

You use this type to create links between a main product and dependent products. You can only create these links between the components and the main product using the Dependent Components relationship type.

  • Combined rate plan packages

You create an overall combined rate plan package and assign the various rate plans to it using the Rate Plan Combinations relationship type. You can only assign rate plans to a combined rate plan. The superordinate package product has the product role Combined Rate Plan.

5. Assign Products and Groups
  1. Assign individual products or groups to the component structure.

  2. Set the following indicators if applicable:

    • Optional

Sets the product to optional so that the customer can deselect this product in the order or quotation. The product is not mandatory for the sale of the package.

    • Default

Sets the product to the default product option. The customer can deselect the product.

  3. Maintain the necessary rules.
