Defining Character FormatsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Procedure

You can define character formats to determine the text formatting in paragraphs. To call the initial screen for standard attributes, choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Character Strings End of the navigation path. This takes you to the input screen for standard attributes, where you can define the character formats required:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Create Element End of the navigation path, or choose F5.

  2. A dialog box appears. Enter the character tag and a description. Confirm your entries with ENTER. The character tag is created. As with paragraph tags, the system automatically sets the other values.

By default, it assigns a * to each character attribute, which means that the attributes are taken from the next highest hierarchical level (form).

You can change the values set by the system.

You use font attributes to highlight blocks of text or character strings. Choose Start of the navigation path Attributes Next navigation step Font End of the navigation path. The input-enabled fields are displayed.

  1. The system assigns a * to the fields Bold, Italics, and Underlined. You can overwrite these entries.

  2. Enter the values required in accordance with the definition of font attributes.

Repeat these steps for all the character tags you want to define.

To save the character formats, choose Save or Save As, or F11.
