You can use this business function to enable mobile service and additional mobile sales functionality that are intended to be used with the gateway to SAP NetWeaver Mobile. The business value is to improve efficiency of the field force by making crucial and up-to-date data available to them on their mobile devices. This will allow quick and efficient management of customer relationships, thus enhancing customer satisfaction.
With the sales function, while in the field, the sales professionals have access to additional relevant sales-related information, like account fact sheets, surveys and the ability to create sales orders, in order to maximize their productivity. With remote access to critical information, a sales professional, for example, can gather information in a survey or questionnaire from customers, gain visibility into customer data via account fact sheets, or create sales orders, all of which will go a long way in ensuring efficient customer handling.
With the service function, field technicians can improve service quality and service response and delivery times, and reduce operational service costs by making available timely and pertinent information on their mobile devices in almost real time. This will help in reducing instances of inadequate and incomplete information that can adversely affect their performance.

Before activating the business function, Sales and Service for gateway to SAP NetWeaver Mobile (CRM_SLS_SRV_MOBILE_1), you have made the following settings in Customizing for SAP Customer Relationship Management under:
For Service:
You can view daily service assignments, view details of service contracts, view details of service orders, and create service confirmation documents.
You can access information regarding objects installed at the customer location with the option to view reference object details, audit installed bases, track installed and dismantled objects, and record counter readings associated to installed base components.
You can view, create, maintain, and archive account data. You can also create and maintain contact data, delete them, and also e-mail or call contacts.
You can access information regarding complaints customers have raised and their resolution status by search for complaints, viewing details of complaints, and completing tasks associated to complaints.
You can maintain availability information on the mobile device by defining and viewing unavailability due to absence, illness, trainings, and meetings, and also defining and viewing availability for overtime work.
For Sales:
You can search for and access the most current account information while on the field by retrieving it from the SAP CRM server. You can view account fact sheet data represented as separate assignment blocks containing different categories of information, including analytical and interactional data.
You can create, view, and update sales orders on the mobile device.
You can download surveys on to the mobile device as well as fill in these surveys on the mobile device. You can also update survey results; that is, if a survey was previously filled in for a given activity, you can change the values and save the changes.
