You can use solution details to describe solutions. Users can conduct searches based on this information.

Use

Solution Type

Highest level at which you can categorize a solution. Depending on how your system administrator has configured the solution type, it can determine:

  • Default value for the Solution Subtype field and the other possible values for this field.

  • Catalog to be used if you specify a task when maintaining a solution of this solution type.

  • Default value for the Problem Type field. When you create a solution of this solution type and go to create a problem and link it to the solution, this default value is proposed automatically.

Solution Subtype

Subdivision of the solution type. For example, if you have the solution type Computer Accessories, you may want the solution subtypes Ergonomic Accessories, Media Storage, Printer Accessories, and so on.

Solution subtypes are defined by your system administrator in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, by choosing Start of the navigation path Enterprise Intelligence Next navigation step Solution Database Next navigation step Solutions Next navigation step Define Solution Subtypes for Each Solution Type End of the navigation path.

Valid-From Date

Date from which the solution record is valid.

Valid-To Date

Date to which the solution record is valid.
