ILM: CDE content for software component SAP_APPL (ILM_CDE_CONT_SAP_APPL)

You can use this business function to extend existing functions and archive all relevant Utilities excise duty data on SAP systems scheduled for decommissioning. The archived data from the decommissioned system is then available for analysis or audit purposes at a later date.

  • You have activated the business function ILM: CDE content for software component SAP_APPL (ILM_CDE_CONT_SAP_APPL).

  • You have installed the following components as of the version mentioned:

Features

This business function enables the Content Data Extractor (CDE) context required to archive additional data from SAP systems that are scheduled for decommissioning. This additional data is required if you wish to use SAP NetWeaver Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) to analyze legacy data at a later date, for example, as part of an audit process.

The enhanced CDE is used to archive the following data:

  • Metadata from the ABAP Dictionary

  • Customizing data

  • Master data

The CDE generates generic archiving objects, based on assigned database tables, to archive data that is not already archived by the existing application archiving objects or for which a suitable archiving object does not exist. The required database tables are assigned to CDE segments maintained in the Customizing of the system to be decommissioned. CDE configuration is done in Customizing but also requires ABAP Dictionary structures for the CDE segments and function modules that support extraction of data from the database tables.

The complete archived data is stored in a Retention Warehouse system where it is accessible for future analysis.
