Function documentationTop-Up Methods

You use this function to choose the customer's top-up method. An account can be topped up in three ways:

  • Automatically

The system tops up the prepayment account automatically when the balance reaches a certain value.

  • Semi-automatically

The system initiates the top-up, but requires confirmation from the customer before it completes the top-up process.

  • Manually

The customer tops up their own account.

Prerequisites

Before the top-up can start, the external system must determine that the minimum limit of a prepayment account has been reached and send a message to the SAP CRM system, triggering the top-up process.

Activities

You can choose which of the following top-up methods to assign to the contract:

Automatic

The SAP CRM System creates an Event Data Record (EDR) message containing the necessary top-up information and sends it to the rating system and EDR billing immediately. If a top-up lock exists for this contract, no EDR is created.

Semi-Automatic

  1. The SAP CRM System sends a message to the customer, which requests confirmation for top-up of their prepayment account using the toll collection communication channel defined in the contract.

  2. The SAP CRM System creates an EDR message with the top-up information required (specifically the top-up amount and payment details) but with status Pending.

  3. If the customer sends back a response, the system parses this response message and if it is confirmed, the top-up process continues as described in the automatic procedure above. The status of the initial EDR message is changed to Sent.

  4. The customer can choose not to return a response, and can instead top up his or her account by calling the hotline. In this situation, the system creates a new EDR message containing this top-up information and sends this to the rating system and EDR billing. It changes the old EDR message with the status Pending to status Obsolete.

Manual

The SAP CRM system sends a notification to the customer informing them that a top-up of his prepayment account is required. The customer must top up their account by calling the hotline. They can specify the top-up details and the system checks any credit card used for top-up using the CVV. The system creates an EDR message and sends it to the rating system and EDR billing.
