With this business function, you can use the SAP Catch Weight Management (SAP CWM) functions as a new customer. SAP CWM is aimed at the requirements of the consumer products industry in general, and the food processing industry in particular, and provides processes and functions to allow materials to be managed in two independent units of measure throughout the supply chain (sales and distribution, purchasing, materials management, production, quality management and logistics execution).
With this business function you activate SAP CWM version that is based on a new architecture. This is closely oriented towards SAP ERP and has the advantage of enabling you to use the Financial Accounting and Controlling components in line with the standard system.
To be able to use the business function, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:
You have installed the following components as of the version mentioned:

You have not activated the following business functions from the busines function set Catch Weight Management (/CWM/BFS/) in your system:
Catch Weight Management (/CWM/BF)
CWM, Innovations in Logistics and Financial Accounting (/CWM/APPL_INTEGRATION_1)
You selected business function set Catch Weight Management (/CWM/BFS/) and activated business function CWM, New Architecture: Inventory Management and Accounting in ERP (/CWM/CM_1).
As a new customer, the following SAP CWM functions are available:
In the supply chain, you can (in addition to using a standard material) work with a catch weight material that has two equal but independent units of measure: the base unit of measure and the parallel unit of measure.
Within the value chain, you can choose whether the valuation unit of measure for the catch weight material should be based on the base unit of measure or the parallel unit of measure.
This enables you to perform precise inventory management and valuations in the areas of Logistics and Accounting.
Compared to previous SAP CWM versions, this business function with the new architecture offers you the following improvements:
Standard Inventory Management
The LIME (Logistics Inventory Management Engine) component is no longer being used for inventory management. Instead, inventory quantities are now being entered in SAP standard tables.
Standard Inventory Accounting
Inventory Accounting is no longer based on SAP SEM, but uses standard inventory accounting.
Standard Product Cost Controlling
Material ledger functions for the actual costing, adapted for SAP CWM.
Standard transactions that replace CWM-specific transactions
