The basis for creating a quotation is the anticipated consumption for a customer within the quotation period. This information is managed in profiles at the point of delivery.

You manage consumption data for a period, and other values such as prices, in profiles. The profiles are stored either in SAP CRM itself, in the IS-U component Energy Data Management (EDM), or in an external profile administration system. They are composed of header data and profile values.

As of CRM 4.0, you can process profiles independent from a point of delivery. The Profiles work center is available for this purpose.

You can use this application to define prices in profiles that you use in quotations for different points of delivery. At least one reference to a profile must be defined for the point of delivery so that the data is available for costing. From a technical point of view, the allocation of profiles to a point of delivery is made via individual objects of a separate object family, which is defined in the iBase of SAP CRM. As of SAP CRM 4.0, the profiles are in the hierarchy. The portion of data specific to the connection to a point of delivery is defined in the CRM iBase as a component. The majority part, however, is managed in its own table in CRM or the IS-U EDM system. You can allocate several profiles to a point of delivery and they can be used in different quotations. A profile is allocated to a concrete quotation via a profile scheme.

For more information on profiles, see the Products in IS-U/CRM Integration section in SAP Solution Manager.
