Example Example

A customer, Michael Adams, calls his utility company and asks to disconnect the electricity and gas supply from his vacation home in Lake Placid for the winter. He asks that both of these utilities be disconnected on October 12th.

Identification of customer

The agent identifies the customer and his premise (vacation home) in Lake Placid. From the Overview page, the agent navigates to the Technical Data Environment tab, and notices that Mr. Adam’s premise in Lake Placid shows a point of delivery with the status Not Disconnected.

Creation of disconnection

The agent creates a new disconnection for the premise from the Object Context menu. He now sees a form with two devices, one for electricity and one for gas. The electricity device is an AMI meter with remote disconnection capability whereas the gas meter is not an AMI device. The agent selects the AMI meter for a remote disconnection. He then selects the gas meter for a traditional disconnection in a second disconnection order. Both devices are scheduled for disconnection for October 12th.

Confirmation of disconnection

Mr. Adams calls back on October 13th and asks for information about his premise in Lake Placid. He would like to know if the devices at his premise have been disconnected as requested. He would also like information on the meter readings at the time of the disconnection as well as the disconnection charges.

The agent identifies the customer and the premise. He uses the View disconnections link which appears below the premise in the Object Context menu to view the disconnection. The agent sees that there are two disconnection entries from October 12th, the date on which the devices were disconnected. He can also view the meter readings and disconnection charges for disconnection entries.

Request for reconnection

Mr. Adams calls back on April 21st and requests that his country house in Lake Placid be reconnected as soon as possible. The agent identifies the customer and the premise. He views the disconnection by using the View disconnections link. The agent requests two reconnections, one for electricity via remote reconnection and one for gas via a traditional reconnection. The agent lets the customer know that since the electricity device is an AMI meter (and therefore has remote reconnection capability), he can request an immediate reconnection. However, for the gas device, a technician will have to be sent out to perform the reconnection. The customer agrees and the agent saves the reconnection request.

Confirmation of reconnection

A few days later, the agent verifies the disconnection document and notes that there are two reconnection entries:

  • One for the electricity device, showing that this device was reconnected immediately using the AMI remote reconnection capability

  • One for the gas device, showing that the device was reconnected on April 22nd by a technician

End of the example.
