Features

You create membership cards only in relation to a membership. Payment relevant cards are treated as products as the member is charged for the card.

The following features are available for membership cards:

  • One or multiple cards can be created and assigned to a membership.

For example, a single card is created for a standard account, whereas several need to be created for a group account.

Each card is related to an individual account within the membership.

  • Cards can have different statuses, for example, lost or stolen, depending on information provided by the CRM customer, either by using Web Self-Services or Interaction Center.

  • There is BAdI support to create cards either in the CRM core program or the Interaction Center.

  • A card is created by default during creation of a membership.

  • Customers can use BAdI: Generation of External Card ID to create an external card number, for example, to support different standard codes.

  • In member activities, the external card number can be used to identify a member.

  • A temporary card enables you to receive benefits of a loyalty program by making transactions without being a registered member of the program. You make transactions with the loyalty host by specifying the card ID and receive benefits of the loyalty program. Anonymous cards are generated with a unique external card ID by the loyalty host and an anonymous membership is created.

  • Automatic creation of cards with membership creation

When a member registers to a program, a membership is created. Based on the Customizing, either basic or tier dependent cards are created. Cards created for a membership can be payment relevant or not. You can set up automatic creation of cards along with membership creation using the Customizing, Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Marketing Next navigation step Loyalty Management Next navigation step Memberships Next navigation step Define Membership Card Types, Layouts, and Status End of the navigation path

  • Card Types

During the loyalty card creation process, all card attributes such as card layout, validity dates, card processor, and so on, is determined based on the card type as defined in the customizing activity, Customer Relationship Management  Marketing  Loyalty Management  Memberships  Define Membership Card Types, Layouts, and Status When a specific card type is selected, the attributes defined for this card type are defaulted.

    Example Example

For example, the card type Co branded is defined in Customizing as:

    • Card Rank: Default

    • Card Rank: Default

    • Validity Period: One year

    • Renewal Period: 30 days

    • Card Layout: Silver

When you create a card of type Co branded in the system, the attributes are automatically defaulted as defined in the Customizing. This would mean that Card Rank is default, Valid To is one year from the date of creation, Renewal Period is 30 days before Valid To, and Card Layout is silver.

    End of the example.
  • Card replacement and expiration

If the renewal date of an existing card has lapsed, then a replacement card with a new validity period is created. When the Valid To date of the existing card lapses, the card expires. You can use the report RLOY_CARD_EXP_REPLACE to trigger this process.

  • Automatic replacement of cards on tier change

When a membership moves to a higher or lower tier, the existing card associated to the previous tier automatically expires and is replaced by a card that is associated to the new tier.

  • Status update for lost or stolen cards

When a member reports the loss of a card, you can change the status of the card to lost or stolen and manually create a similar card with the same data.

  • Order Cards for printing

    You can do the following:

    • Order cards for printing through an external card service provider.

    • Send the data of the cards created in the immediate past to the external card service provider and make an order for printing.

    • Receive updates on the status of the order such as order reference number, shipped at, and so on.

You can use the following reports to initiate the process of printing the cards and receive status of the orders.

    • RLOY_CARD_ORDERING_EXTERNAL

    • RLOY_CARD_ORDER_STATUS_UPDATES

  • Temporary card handling

You can allow members to register to a loyalty program without providing any details, and yet transact. You can use the reportRLOY_CRD_ATC_GENERATE to generate temporary cards. Every time a temporary card ID generated by this report is used in a member activity; an anonymous membership is created without the member details.

In this state, a member can perform transactions like a normal membership. At a later point in time when the member registers, the information is updated in the membership. The card type must be marked as anonymous in the Customizing, Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Marketing Next navigation step Loyalty Management Next navigation step Loyalty Programs Next navigation step Define Profiles for Loyalty Program Types. End of the navigation path

  • Card Payments

You can initiate payment for the payment relevant cards of a membership. If the card is payment relevant, the member is charged a fee periodically for the usage of the card.

To initiate payment for the payment relevant cards, mark the card type as payment relevant in the Customizing,Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Marketing Next navigation step Loyalty Management Next navigation step Memberships Next navigation step Define Membership Card Types, Layouts, and Status.
