A coupon campaign is a special type of campaign where customers can redeem coupons to receive a discount when purchasing the products advertised on the coupon. There is a distinction between coupons with internal clearing and coupons with external clearing via a clearing house.
Coupon campaigns are modeled in Marketing as campaign elements
with a campaign type that has the Coupon
indicator
set.
Cost planning is possible for coupons. In Key Figures
,
you can maintain the costs for each coupon campaign, calculate forecast values
for the redemption rate, and display these graphically. To be able to do this,
you need to have selected a coupon-specific planning profile group.
You have defined a campaign type that has the Coupon
indicator
set in Customizing under .
You also define in this activity whether you want to work with internal or
external clearing.
You have defined all necessary settings in Customizing under

If you are using external clearing, you have created the clearing houses with which you work as business partners. You have also maintained the coupon codes provided by the clearing house for external clearing in the coupon code maintenance transaction. For more information, see Coupon Code Retrieval.
Create a campaign and select a coupon-specific campaign type. Make
an entry in all required fields under General Data
.
Enter your coupon data on the Coupon
assignment
block.
Choose the desired barcode type and family code by using the input help.
Use the value code to determine the size of the discount offered by the coupon.
The distribution method depends on the communication medium you have selected for your campaigns. Select the distribution method required.
Choose the expiration date for your coupon. This does not have to match the campaign end date. It usually only refers to the validity of the coupon.
If you are using external clearing, you can make the following
additional settings on the Coupons
assignment
block:
You use the Individual Coupon
Information
indicator to define that data entered on the coupon
by the redeeming customer (for example, address or marketing data) should
be provided by the clearing house. If you set the Coupons Sorted
by Retailer
indicator, the clearing house keeps your coupons
sorted by retailer. In this way, you can check the correctness of the redemption
rates at random.
If you are using external clearing, define the clearing house you
want to use to process your coupon campaign and select your product category.
As soon as you set the status of the coupon campaign to Released,
the
next free coupon code is automatically taken. However, this code is only considered
as "assigned" once the campaign has been saved.
