You can use this business function to implement the following new telecommunications-specific portal roles in the Network Lifecycle Management area for malfunction-related maintenance:

      Network Operation Manager

The main task of a Network Operation Manager is to monitor the network. If malfunctions occur, they must create emergency repair orders and assign these to technicians.

      Site Technician

The Site Technician is responsible for performing malfunction-related repairs and planned maintenance. They can work with a laptop, handheld device or a combination of both.

      Workforce Manager

The main task of a Workforce Manager is to guarantee the availability of sufficient site technicians and to monitor the processing of emergency repair and maintenance orders. If an order is in danger of violating a service level agreement (SLA) or a site technician has rejected the order, the workforce manager must take the appropriate action.

Integration

You can enhance the functions in this business function with the Business Intelligence Content as of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI Content Add-On 3 SP 06.

These business functions contain functions for the Plant Maintenance (PM) application component, which are required for use of the telecommunications-specific Network Lifecycle Management roles.

      You have made the Customizing settings for the portal content in Customizing for SAP Telecommunications under Integration With Other SAP Components Portal Content.

This business function provides you with the following functions as business packages:

      Business Package for Site Technician (Telecommunications)s

This business package provides network and site technicians at your company in the Site Maintenance work center with the following functions:

       Personal Object Worklist (POWL) of malfunction or maintenance orders to be processed.

       Access to processing functions for orders (such as order acceptance, order change, confirmation, processing malfunction reports, stock overview display and ordering)

       Structure view of bills of materials for technical objects (functional location, equipment, material)

       Access to additional functions (stock overview display, equipment installation/dismantling, after-event order recording, display functional location/equipment/material, create malfunction reports)

The site technician can also access various analysis reports. A structural overview of all functions in the work center is available to the technician in the Service Map.

      Business Package for Workforce Manager (Telecommunications)

This business package provides workforce managers at your company in the Workforce Management work center with the following functions:

       Overview of the technician team (attendance overview, team calendar, reminder of dates, key figure monitor)

       Universal worklist of alerts that have occurred (such as the number of violated SLA times for processing malfunction reports).

       Personal object worklist with orders for the workforce manager team.

       Overview of open emergency repair orders that violate defined rules (such as order rejected by the technician, order will violate the service level agreement within a defined period) and new assignment of orders to technicians.

       Access to processing functions for orders (such as order change, processing malfunction reports, stock overview display and ordering)

       Structure view of bills of materials for technical objects (functional location, equipment, material)

       Access to additional functions (stock overview display, display functional location/equipment/material, create malfunction reports)

The workforce manager can also evaluate the processing of notifications received and generate reports. A structural overview of all functions in the work center is available to the workforce manager in the Service Map.

      Business Package for Network Operation Manager (Telecommunications)

This business package provides network operation managers at your company in the Network Operation Management work center with the following functions:

       Generation of emergency repair orders and maintenance notifications and orders for alarms and maintenance intervals.

       Access to processing functions for orders (such as order change, changing malfunction reports, stock overview display and ordering)

       Structure view of bills of materials for technical objects (functional location, equipment, material)

       Display maintenance orders that are still open

       Access to additional functions (stock overview display, equipment installation/dismantling, after-event order recording, display functional location/equipment/material, create malfunction reports)

The network operation manager can also access various analysis reports and generate reports. A structural overview of all functions in the work center is available to the network operation manager in the Service Map.

You can also integrate an external system for monitoring telecommunications networks using pre-defined interfaces in the Network Operation Management work center.
