Function documentationConditions

A given set of circumstances that, if fulfilled, trigger an action. Conditions are one of the defining components of rules when creating rule policies. A rule can have any number of conditions.

Prerequisites

Conditions are defined in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path E-Mail Response Management System Next navigation step Define Repository End of the navigation path.

Features

Conditions consist of the following:

  • Attributes

These can be system variables or facts, such as e-mail content, subject, or business partner attributes such as language, country, and so on. The available attributes depend on the context you are working in. If you do not need certain attributes, you can hide them by deselecting the Show Attribute indicator in the Attributes step of the Define Repository Customizing activity.

You can use categorization for attributes. Categorization leverages the TREX search engine Content Analysis feature to automatically determine which category an incoming e-mail belongs to.

  • Operators

Which operators are available depend upon the context you are working in and which attribute you selected. Examples of operators include:

    • Contains

    • Equals

    • Is Greater Than

    • Greater or Equal

    • Less or Equal

    • Is Like: this operator evaluates wildcard expressions.

    • Is Not Like

  • Values

The type of values you enter or choose depends upon the combination of the attribute and operator you selected. In some cases, you can only choose entries from a dropdown list box, use an advanced search, or enter values directly in the field. These values are determined in the Input Support for Conditions folder of the Define Repository Customizing activity.

  • Case-sensitivity

You can define whether the evaluation of a value field should be case-sensitive or not. The Customizing for the attribute defines whether a user can change this field when creating rules, or if this option is a display-only field.

Attributes, operators, and the type of value field you use are all defined in Customizing. You can have more than one condition for a rule. In this case, you must determine whether all conditions should be met to trigger the action or just one. Use Match All/Match Any to toggle between the options.
