You can use this business function to integrate order processing in SAP ERP with transportation planning in SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM). It enables you to optimize order processing and transportation planning by exchanging information about orders and deliveries between SAP ERP and SAP TM. This close integration is essential, especially for companies working with global networks of suppliers and carriers.
To integrate order processing with SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM), you must run SAP Transportation Management 8.0 (SAP TM 8.0) or higher.
You can use this business function to carry out the following activities:
Perform transportation planning for sales orders, returns orders, purchase orders, and stock transport orders at an early stage of the order management process by transferring the relevant orders to SAP TM.
Perform sales order scheduling in SAP TM to ensure that material availability is synchronized with transportation capacity availability. This improves the accuracy of your order confirmations.
Create inbound and outbound deliveries in SAP ERP based on consolidated information about freight units and shipments provided by the transportation management system, and transfer deliveries to the transportation management system for execution.
You transfer information between SAP ERP and SAP TM using enterprise services.
