Academic Structure and Student Administration (ISHERCM_MAIN), Customizing and Settings (BC Sets) (ISHERCM_SETTINGS).

You can use this business function to fully automate academic processes both in the system and across third-party applications. A post processing framework and Enterprise Services facilitate integration with financial aid systems and learning management systems.

Academic follow-up processes can be automatically triggered by certain related actions in Student Lifecycle Management (SLcM). This minimizes the need for manual user intervention and allows academic processes to be managed with greater speed and accuracy.

These academic actions can also trigger real-time messages to third-party applications, which use Enterprise Services to access information in SLcM. This reduces the cost and complexity of integrated processing.

Prerequisites

  • You have installed SAP ERP 6.0 Enhancement Package 4.

  • You have activated the business function set CAMPUS_MANAGEMENT and the business functions ISHERCM_MAIN and ISHERCM_SETTINGS.

  • Academic Post Processing Framework

    Changes to a student's academic history and academic offerings trigger an 'event' in the new Academic Post Processing Framework. Each event carries a context that determines the follow-up actions to be carried out. You can define your own follow-up actions, such as sending messages to external applications using NetWeaver Process Integration (PI). Manual processing can be eliminated, and follow-up actions for academic events are handled in real-time.

  • Enterprise Services for Third-Party Integration

    Using Enterprise Services, third-party Learning Management Systems can be notified about changes to course offerings and registrations. Financial Aid systems can also be notified about changes to the student or applicant's status. Through Enterprise Services, third-party applications can access information about students, registrations and academic offerings through standard web services. With this enhancement, academic processes that span multiple applications can be managed efficiently, and the implementation costs of integration scenarios are reduced.

  • Storage of Performance Indexes

    Calculation results of performance indexes can be stored, which improves system performance, allows analytical reporting of performance indexes, and facilitates automated follow-up processes.
