Features

The most important functions that are available with this business function for press distribution (wholesale) and for newspaper and magazine publishers include the following:

  • Extend distribution list

You can use the new functions to extend or restrict the number of points of sale that are to be supplied for a media issue. Use the functions to extend the list of customers to be supplied if the circulation or delivery quantity is unexpectedly high. If you have implemented SAP Retail, you can use assortments to define which points of sale are allowed for a title. You can start or end supply with immediate effect at the customer's request in customer service. The system displays the potential distribution options for a media issue in the planning process for sales quantity planning. You can extend or restrict the customer distribution list directly.

  • Event-based sales quantity planning

The use of events has been enhanced and integrated in sales quantity planning. You classify an event according to certain configurable criteria. You define the influence of each event on the sales quantities. If the event occurs, you apply the influencing criteria in sales quantity planning for a media issue. This gives you a transparent view of the planned sales quantities and planned quantity changes based on events. Once the life cycle of a media issue is over, you check the event used and (if required) create unforeseen events to correct the sales quantities. You can search for similar events in sales quantity planning for future issues, using the influencing criteria you have defined.

  • Configurable display of stock key figures

You can use this function to group fields from stock and display them in the Press Distribution applications. The system displays relevant stock information for the process step in question. You can take the configured key figures from stock determination into account in purchase quantity planning, goods receipt, in returns to the publisher, and in customer service.

  • Recall for customer groups

You can calculate separate recall dates for predefined customer groups (for example, retail chains) and use these for recalls of unsold copies.

  • Planning of issues due for shipping

The new and enhanced functions give you an overview of the media issues that are due for shipping and can be used to release shipping for each media issue or delivery cycle. If you plan the media issues for shipping after goods receipt has taken place, the system displays current stocks and weights, as well as the planned delivery quantities. If there are differences in the quantities, you can move parts of the delivery quantities to other delivery cycles. You complete planning by releasing the media issues for outbound delivery or by transferring an outbound delivery cycle to transportation planning.

  • Transportation planning

You can use the transportation planning functions to define which truck routes depart from a specific plant and which vehicles are used. You can display the number of customers, number of media issues, and weight for each truck route in planning. The planning overview also contains details such as excess weight, and the customers or issues assigned to each truck route. If bottlenecks occur, you can use these functions to move customers from one truck route to another.

  • Customer return check

You can use a return check procedure to define various checks in Customizing for the customer returns received. You can decide on credit memos and goods receipt quantities using configurable rules for customer returns that contain errors. This means you no longer need to postedit the errored customer returns.

  • Role-specific process check

You can use this function to configure the media issue worklist for specific user roles. You can use different views depending on your requirements (for example, for plants, sales areas, or media issue basic data). You can define the steps required in processing a media issue for specific rules. You can configure the key figures across process steps. When checking the processing status, you can change the media issue master data and navigate to the relevant process steps.

  • Media issue archiving

You can use this function to archive media issues. Archived media issues remain in the issue sequence and have the status Archived.
