Business Function Requiring Activation in Addition

EA-PLM (PLM Extension)

You use this business function to extend the existing functions in the SAP Environment, Health and Safety component. Individual functions are easier to handle (for example, the specification workbench), and the performance of individual components (for example, EH&S Expert) has also been improved.

Prerequisites

Waste Management: When you activate this business function, you must execute the report EHSWAR_INIT_FUNC_APP_DISPDOC to initialize the modified quantity update for waste management.

EH&S Expert and EH&S Open Content Connector: EH&S Expert SP16 is a prerequisite for improving performance in the EH&S Expert and for other functions in the EH&S Open Content Connector.

Global Label Management: If you have previously edited the master data for Global Label Management in Customizing for Environment, Health and Safety under Specify Environment Parameters, you can transfer your settings using the program RCBGL_TCGENV_PARAMETER_GET.

Features

The Environment, Health and Safety business function contains the following enhancements to the SAP component Environment, Health and Safety:

  • The performance of secondary data determination in EH&S Expert has been improved by no longer saving specification data locally on the EH&S Expert server, and by improving the processing algorithms. For more information, see EH&S Expert.

  • The EH&S Open Content Connector (OCC) supports the substance group concept and allows you to simulate a data update. For more information, see EH&S Open Content Connector.

  • You can display WWI reports without having to install WWI locally on the front end. For more information, see Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI).

  • In Dangerous Goods Management, the following functions are provided: packaging, dynamic classification, exceptions to dangerous goods regulations, dangerous goods integration in handling units, and text pattern profiles. For more information, see Dangerous Goods Management.

  • The flexible hazardous substance check is provided in Hazardous Substance Management. You can now display and edit hazardous substance master data as well as filling it. For more information, see Hazardous Substance Management.

  • Additional evaluation reports, new fields, and various new BAdIs are available for Industrial Hygiene and Safety and for Occupational Health. For display users, a modified block logic is provided for work areas and risk assessments. This allows information to be displayed and edited by different users at the same time. You can now directly check documents into the Document Management System (DMS) from the work area, incident/accident log, and risk assessment functions when you assign documents. For more information, see Industrial Hygiene and Safety and Occupational Health.

  • The usability of the Specification Workbench has been improved. If desired, a preset search screen appears when you open the workbench. If desired, depending on the specification type, a preset value assignment type appears when you open specification data. You can search for specifications using exception values. You can also save the layout of the hit list. During phrase selection, the sort sequence is not case-sensitive. For numerical characteristics, the text for the unit of measure appears in the input help for the unit of measure. The symbols in the property tree give you an idea of the inheritance relationships and references. For user-defined texts in the property tree, you can use the Document Management System to directly check in documents when assigning. You can use pushbuttons to switch the property tree, to enter the change number, and to enter the key date. For more information, see Specification Workbench.

  • When you create an inheritance relationship and when you change the source data, the data is available in the target directly after you save. Inheritance is only performed as a background job if this is justified by large volumes of data. Symbols in the property tree indicate whether a property contains only passed-on value assignment instances, only inherited value assignment instances, or both inherited and passed-on value assignment instances. For more information, see Inheritance.

  • The notification check has been added to Substance Volume Tracking and TSCA 12B is now supported. For more information, see Substance Volume Tracking.

  • You can use SAP Spool Management for printing labels in Global Label Management. Changes to label data in the material master, user activities, and print activities can be logged. You can preview labels in the SAP GUI using the integrated Microsoft Word software. During label determination, the system takes the type of print scenario selected into account. It also checks the user entries on the label printing screens. For more information, see Global Label Management.

  • Evaluation reports are provided for Product Safety. The time of report generation is recorded to the second. This enables you to generate change marks that are exact to the second. The Business Add-In BADI_ESS_REPORT_GEN enables you to use an individual implementation to generate, display, and print reports without using WWI. For more information, see Product Safety.

  • In Waste Management, quantity update of total quantity and period-based quantity update are available for disposal document items. The report EHSWAR_SETUP_APP_QTY_UPDATE allows you to check and update the quantities that are updated in the waste approvals. For more information, see Waste Management.
