For account, contact, and employee searches, fuzzy search provides search results based on similar search strings.

Prerequisites

To activate a fuzzy search, you use one of the following services, depending on your requirements:

  • Partner software products that offer extended fuzzy search capabilities (see SAP Note 176559Information published on SAP site for information about certified partners)

  • SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification (TREX) (see SAP Note 1692370Information published on SAP site)

Features

When fuzzy search is activated, the user can choose between the options Regular Search and Fuzzy Search in the search screens. This setting is saved even when the user logs off. Users can have different settings for account, contact, and employee searches.

The percentage match can be shown for each search result (users must personalize the search result list to display the percentage match (% Match field).

The results list for a fuzzy search is automatically sorted by percentage match (in descending order), then by Name1 / Last Name (in ascending order), then by Name 2 / First Name (in ascending order).
