Function documentationService Products in the Product Catalog

Service products in the product catalog enable you to offer services in product catalogs in addition to materials.

Caution Caution

You can maintain services in your product catalog, however service order processing is only supported in the service provider process including the service provider order.

End of the caution.

Prerequisites

  • In Customizing for the catalog type, you have defined whether you want to permit services, materials or services and materials in the product catalog. Material is the standard setting. You define the catalog type in Customizing of Customer Relationship Management, by choosing Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Catalog Next navigation step Define Catalog Types End of the navigation path.

    Note Note

If you want to subsequently make changes in Customizing to existing product catalogs, you cannot remove a product type that has already been used, merely add an extra one.

    End of the note.
  • For sales catalogs, you have also filled out the Service Organization and Org.Unit (Service) fields in the catalog variants, if you want to allow services in the catalog.

Features

  • You can include services and materials in your product catalog.

  • Service products have no obvious effect on the catalog variants of purchasing catalogs.

    Note Note

If both product types occur in a catalog type, product creations of all document categories that are used in the folder templates for materials or services are replicated during catalog indexing. This is also the case if the document categories do not occur in the folder templates for materials, only in the folder templates for services.

    End of the note.
  • If you add products to the catalog in product catalog maintenance, you can select Material or Service under Product Type. The standard value is Material.
