Business Partner Role Exclusion Groups
A business partner role exclusion group (referred to as “exclusion group” in this section) defines which roles cannot be assigned to a business partner at the same time.
An exclusion group allows you to ensure that a business partner does not have certain roles at the same time. Within an exclusion group, you can define permitted transitions between roles.
You do not want business partners to have the role of a prospect and a sold-to party at the same time. You define an exclusion group that contains both of these roles.
You also define the transition “prospect -> sold-to party” for this exclusion group, to establish that the only possible transition is from prospect to sold-to party.
You define exclusion groups in Customizing for Cross-Application Components

To use exclusion groups in the WebClient UI, you must also activate the function CRM_REXCL

The account life cycle functionality is also based on exclusion groups, and can be used alternatively if you only require one exclusion group. For more information, see Status and Life Cycle Data.
