Using Extended Notifications and the
UWL
If you want to use extended notifications and the Universal Worklist (UWL) at the same time, you need to make the appropriate configuration settings. You have the following options:
· Create the configuration settings automatically
To do so, execute the report RSWNUWLSEL once. The report creates the configuration settings automatically and you then only have to define the schedules manually. SAP recommends this procedure.
· Create the Configuration Settings Manually
Alternatively, you can create the configuration settings manually. The procedure for this is described in the following pages. If you choose this option, you must follow the order of the steps exactly as they are described and only use the names specified.
The UWL uses a separate mechanism to display the selected work items. Consequently, you do not need to enter any details about message templates, subscriptions, delivery schedules, and so on.
1. Execute the report RSWNUWLSEL once.
The Select Work Items screen appears.
2. Select Reset Configuration as the mode and FULL Filter as the filter.
The report selects the work items and creates the configuration settings.
3. Open the view cluster for configuring notifications (see also: Configuring Notifications (View Cluster).
You cannot use the browser-based administration application for these steps.
4. Choose UWL as the scenario and UWL_STANDARD as the category.
5. Define the schedule for the selection (see also: Selection Schedule).
6. Schedule report SWN_SELSEN to run as usual (see also: Report for Selection and Delivery).
...
1. Open the view cluster for configuring notifications (see also: Configuring Notifications (View Cluster)).
2. Define the following scenario:
¡ Scenario ID: UWL
¡ Name: Used-defined, for example Scenario for Provision of Work Items in the UWL
¡ Standard category: UWL_STANDARD
¡ Handler: CL_SWN_SCENARIO_WORKFLOW
3. Define the following category (see also: Category):
¡ Scenario ID: UWL
¡ Category ID: UWL_STANDARD
¡ Description: used-defined, for example Standard Category for Provision of Work Items in the UWL
¡ Requested Reliability: undefined
¡ Collective Message: not supported
¡ Notification Priority: Select the blank line
¡ Delete After Sending: Do not select this field
¡ Category Handler: CL_SWN_CATEGORY
¡ Notification Handler: CL_SWN_NOTIF_WORKFLOW
¡ User Handler: CL_SWN_USER_STD
4. Do not assign any message templates or subscriptions.
5. Define the filter parameters:
To be able to select the filter parameters when defining the filter, you need to define them first. Call transaction SM30 and in the SWN_FILTPARV view, define the delta parameters as follows:
¡ Scenario: UWL
¡ Filter parameter: DELTA
¡ Description: used-defined, for example Select New and Changed Work Items Only
¡ Data Element Name: SWN_DELTAREAD
¡ Label: Delta
6. Define the filters (see also: Filter):
a. Define the basic data of the FULL filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Filter ID: UWL_FULL
§ Name: User-defined, for example Select All Work Items of All Tasks
§ Delete Old Notifications: Do not select this field
§ Main Filter: Leave this field blank
§ Category: UWL_STANDARD
b. Define the filter settings of the FULL filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Filter: UWL_FULL
§ Parameter: DELTA
§ Index: 0
§ Value: Leave this field blank
c. Define the basic data of the delta filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Filter: UWL_DELTA
§ Description: used-defined, for example Select Only New and Changed Work Items of All Tasks.
§ Delete Old Notifications: Do not select this field
§ Main Filter: UWL_FULL
§ Category: UWL_STANDARD
d. Define the filter settings of the delta filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Filter: UWL_DELTA
§ Parameter: DELTA
§ Index: 0
§ Value: X
7. Define the selection schedule (see also: Selection Schedule)
a. Define the schedule for the FULL filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Schedule Selection: UWL_FULL
§ Description: user-defined, for example Schedule for FULL Filter
§ Filter: UWL_FULL
§ Weekdays: all
§ Time From: user-defined, for example 05:00:00
§ Time Until: user-defined, for example 00:00:00
§ Time Zone: <your time zone>
§ Interval (Minutes): 0
You usually define the schedule for the FULL filter so that it is executed once or twice a day.
b. Define the schedule for the delta filter:
§ Scenario: UWL
§ Schedule Selection: UWL_DELTA
§ Description: user-defined, for example Schedule for DELTA Filter
§ Filter: UWL_ DELTA
§ Weekdays: all
§ Time From: user-defined, for example 00:01:00
§ Time Until: user-defined, for example 23:59:00
§ Time Zone: <your time zone>
§ Interval (Minutes): user-defined, for example 1
The shorter the interval, the more up-to-date the data in the UWL is. However, the load on the system also increases.
8. Do not define a schedule for delivery, a handler assignment, or any message templates.
9. Schedule report SWN_SELSEN (and not RSWNUWLSEL).
