Export Using the Change and Transport
System
Use
NetWeaver Portal
offers the option to transport portal content packages (EPAs) using the SAP
Change and Transport System (CTS). Several CTS configurations are possible;
this is the responsibility of the CTS administrator. For more information, see
Transport of
Non-ABAP Objects in Change and Transport System.
The CTS provides a total solution from the portal for transporting content to another system. This includes export and transport to the target system, eliminating the need for a separate import at the target system, as is necessary when transporting packages through the file system. An additional advantage of using the CTS option is that transports are controlled and recorded.
Prerequisites
· An AS Java and AS ABAP combined installation
· The portal is connected to CTS
· The CTS is configured with the relevant transport parameters
Procedure

1. In the portal, choose System Administration ® Transport ® Transport Packages ® Export.
2. Right-click an export package and choose Object to open the Static Package Content Editor.
3. Select a package and choose Export to open the Export Preview page.
4. In the Transport Method field, choose CTS from the dropdown list.
If CTS is configured, this is the default option.
The file system Export To field is replaced by fields indicating CTS parameters:
¡ Transport Request - the transport request identifier
¡ Owner - the logged-on portal user
¡ Description
The package filename with the EPA extension remains, along with a Note text field for additional comments.
5. Choose Start Export.
The Export Status screen appears, in which you can choose Stop Export while it is still in progress.
Result
Either you have created an export request, to which your package is added, or the package is added to an existing transport request, depending on the CTS configuration.
