Definition of Route, Carrier, and Means of Transport

Use

In the sales order, you can define a route, carrier, and means of transportthat are then processed in SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO).

Prerequisites

In addition to CRM Enterprise, the following system requirements apply:

  • SAP ECC 6.0

  • SAP SCM 5.0

The system configuration for service parts management is active. You can find more information on this in the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG) for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Transactions Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Activate System Configuration for Service Parts Management End of the navigation path .

Features

You can enter the following transport data manually in the sales order at header level or for each order item.

  • Route

  • Carrier

  • Means of transport

Transport data stored at header level applies to all order items for which you have not defined specific data. As soon as a partial delivery has taken place for an order item, you can no longer change the transport data for this item.

If you do not enter the transport data manually, SAP APO determines it on item level during scheduling. If you change the data manually, the system carries out scheduling and the availability check for the order items again. If you enter data manually, it is not changed by SAP APO.

The means of transport influences route determination in SAP APO. If you do not manually specify the means of transport, it is determined by SAP APO. A means of transport determined by SAP APO is not returned to SAP CRM.

Note Note

For more information about route determination, see SAP Library for SAP Supply Chain Management at Start of the navigation path Extended Warehouse Management Next navigation step Transport Management Next navigation step Route Determination End of the navigation path .
