Background documentation Setting Up SSL for Remote Delta Link Usage   Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote delta links

The remote delta link usage mode supports the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. If you want to implement a secure connection, you need to configure the SSL exchange on both the producer server and consumer server in the federated portal network. For detailed information, see Configuring the Use of SSL on the J2EE Engine.

If connections in your system landscape pass through a SAP Web dispatcher, for example, a P4-RMI connection, then you can also use SSL to secure these connections. See SAP Web Dispatcher and SSL.

Note

Currently, the SSL setup for remote delta link usage mode applies to the encryption of transferred data only; SSL-based authorizations are not supported.

The federated portal network infrastructure relies on logon tickets to establish trust between the producer and consumer portal at runtime and design-time. Therefore you still need to exchange portal certificate files (see Setting Up Trust). The SSL configuration is an additional requirement and does not override the need to configure trust.
