Background documentationOptimizing Advanced Search Performance

To optimize advanced search performance, you can define the processing sequence of cross-object search parameters.

Features

The time required to retrieve advanced search results for queries containing cross-object search parameters can be optimized by assigning a higher priority to the business object search parameters that yield the fewest results. The following cross-object search parameters are available:

You can define the processing sequence of cross-object search parameters in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Industry-Specific Solutions Next navigation step Public Sector Next navigation step Investigative Case Management Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Define Sequence of Cross-Object Search Parameters End of the navigation path.

Example

You submit a search for cases involving crimes that occurred in Italy and have a suspect from New York with the last name Wilson.

The query contains the location of the crime (relationship, city) and parties involved (relationship, name, and city) as cross-object search parameters. Realistically there are far more cases that occur in Italy than there are cases that may have a suspect named Wilson from New York. Therefore, if your searches typically reflect the parameters submitted in the example, you can optimize advanced search by assigning parties involved a higher processing sequence than locations.
