The following table describes the general tasks that you may follow when modeling an application in Visual Composer. The order of the steps is logical and recommended, although you may choose to follow a different workflow for certain of the tasks.

For example, step 1 is critical because it includes defining the needs of your application. It should always be your first step in creating any model. However, step 2 – adding your data services – may at times come between composing the model diagram and configuring its components. Or you may wish to add one data service at a time, creating first the flow around the first data service, then importing the second service and so on . . .

In any case, the following sections provide instructions for a comprehensive work flow. Use this information in conjunction with the specific details provided in the SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer Reference Guide, which complements this Modeler’s Guide.

  1. Plan your application.

  2. Define your systems and create aliases for them.

  3. Select your deploy environment.

  4. Create a new model.

  5. Create top-level elements down to iView.

First Steps

  1. Drill down into the iView.

  2. Open the Find Data task panel.

  3. Select the system.

  4. Locate the data service.

  5. Drag it onto the Design board.

  6. Repeat as necessary.

  1. Open the Compose Model task panel.

  2. Either drag out from data-service ports and select elements, or drag elements from task panel.

  3. Connect model elements as needed.

  1. Open the Configure Element task panel.

  1. Display the Layout board (Layout tab).

  2. Use the Control Properties dialog box to configure the properties of each control and field.

  3. View the model in runtime.
